City of peace, beautifully located on the shores of Lake Geneva, Geneva is a true international capital.

Few cities have such a rich history of international cooperation as Geneva: the cradle of the Red Cross and international law, Geneva is home to more than 400 governmental and non-governmental organisations and nearly 190 States are represented there by a permanent mission to the UN.

The private sector, with banks, the watchmaking industry and numerous multinationals, also attracts many expatriates. Geneva is Switzerland’s 2nd largest city, with 203,000 inhabitants at the end of 2018, 48% of whom are foreigners.
